Eliopoli Architecture: How the tradition of castles meet the future.
An introduction like a KiSS (Keep it Simple Stupid)
While every one that visit Europe is charmed by the beauty of medieval castles we cannot beat on the same feeling visiting the modern cities.
Also the most ecovillages I have seen are not-so-nice to see.
The economical and ecological aspects are in the foreground. In Eliopoli we want to do it different. Being inspired by ancient architecture.
Elz Castle is a wonderful example of this concept. Sited on valley of Moselle,Germany, impress with his vertical development and the beauty of the natural materials like stone and wood
Everyone that see such a construction get a sense of beauty and harmony. But why? lets examine the recipe.
The concepts behind are four:
Lines purity
Vertical exaggeration
the arch
Natural material on the front
Lines purity
This is more common on the classical and early medieval times. Beauty is given by the empty spaces, surrounded by golden ratio elements.
Too much elements, like in the baroque or the rococo don’t lets the viewer find a sense of inner peace.
Lines purity is the easter Zen simplicity. A good example is a sequence of Japanese tory gates.
Vertical exaggeration
the link between the daily limits and the of the power dreams is given by the vertical exaggeration. In fact the roof is double so high as the wall. This tension to the spiritual elevation, without loosing the contact with the earth is a base for the Eliopoli concept.

the Arch
Another important element is the Arch.
See in the above picture my family, Silke, Noemi e Raphael, ready to enter into the magic of Gothic.
The arch is the union between a golden rectangle and the circle.
Natural materials on the front
Avoiding or hiding materials glass and metal is necessary to give the “natural effects”.
Such uniform surfaces give a unpleasant feeling of artificiality.
On the above image you can see how the window is posed inside the wall, leaving the impression of a empty space on the wall surface.
Inside it is possible to enlarge the light font by opening the border around the window.
Solar panels, wind mills and other useful- but-disturbing elements should be become invisible to the eye.
